Why\/why not?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How are the various adjudicatory institutions studied approaching truth-seeking? What factors may account for divergences in their approaches?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do jurisprudential tools\u2014evidentiary concepts, rules or principles\u2014facilitate the establishment of the true facts of cases? Can such tools also serve to suppress factual truth?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What role do extra-legal\u2014social, political, historical, cultural, economic, organisational, etc.\u2014factors play in the evidentiary processes studied?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Truth being multi-dimensional, which of its many possible facets\u2014as, e.g., objective or subjective, forensic or impressionistic, whole or partial, procedural or substantive, personal or collective\u2014should concern human rights adjudication?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do various understandings of truth interact and compete in actual proceedings?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Given the many deceptions that enter some proceedings, would it be useful to think of evidence in human rights adjudication as a Foucauldian regime of truth as well as one of falsity?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"8\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does our post-truth era of \u2018unknowers\u2019 and epistemic distrust lend increased saliency to the above questions?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite scholars and practitioners of various backgrounds and experiences to contribute a research paper based on any valid\u202fresearch method, including, in a non-exhaustive list:\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the dissection of one specific judgment\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the doctrinal analysis of evidentiary principles\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cross-institutional comparison\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ethnographic observations\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>conceptual and theoretical reflections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u202f<strong>Logistics<\/strong>\u202f\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Participation<\/strong>: in-person and required for the full duration of the conference, to encourage open and in-depth discussions between the participants.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/masboronat.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mas Boronat<\/a>, nested in the Catalonian hills, one hour away by car from Barcelona.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Costs at the charge of participants<\/strong>: \u20ac150 conference fee (payable upon DISSECT\u2019s invitation to register); transport to and from Mas Boronat; and, if applicable, visa fees for entry into the European Union.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Costs covered by DISSECT<\/strong>: Accommodation at Mas Boronat from 7 to 9 September 2026, including meals (vegetarian).\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scholarships<\/strong>: A limited number of fee-waivers and\/or travel grants will be made available to participants facing financial constraints.
