{"id":1704,"date":"2026-01-22T18:07:46","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T17:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dissect.ugent.be\/?page_id=1704"},"modified":"2026-02-26T17:33:39","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T16:33:39","slug":"frequently-asked-questions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dissect.ugent.be\/es\/events\/frequently-asked-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8211; Frequently Asked Questions &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>UNTB meeting discussing DISSECT\u2019s Evidentiary Recommendations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\">24-26 June 2026, Mas Boronat, Tarragona, Spain<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>Who is organising this meeting? <\/strong>The DISSECT research project, which is funded by the European Research Council (AdG-2018-834044)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Following which purpose? <\/strong>&nbsp;To have an informed, in-depth discussion with the UNTB committee members about the recommendations put forward in the edited collection <em>Questions of Evidence in the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies\u2019 Individual Communication Procedure<\/em> (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming 2026). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where will the meeting take place?<\/strong> At <a href=\"https:\/\/masboronat.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mas Boronat<\/a>, Tarragona, which is located about one hour away by car from Barcelona El Prat airport or 30 minutes from Reus airport. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When? <\/strong>From Wednesday 24 June 2026 12 noon to Friday 26 June 2026 6 p.m. DISSECT requires the participants to attend the entirety of the proceedings (except if we have granted an exemption due to unavoidable circumstances).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who is coming? <\/strong>We are inviting two experts per UNTB and two members of the Petitions Unit. Will also be in attendance: the volume\u2019s editors, the authors of Chapter 11 (Practical Recommendations) and DISSECT\u2019s two current post-docs. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What preparation are participants committing to<\/strong><strong>? <\/strong>Participants are expected to come to the meeting having read three chapters of the book <em>Questions of Evidence in the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies&#8217; Individual Communications Procedure<\/em>, as follows: Chapter 1 (Introduction), Chapter 11 (Recommendations), and one additional chapter (as assigned by the organisers to each participant). The book will be published by Cambridge University Press in early May 2026 (Open Access).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How will flights be refunded?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DISSECT is subject to rather strict financial rules: <strong>only economy-class<\/strong> flights can be refunded and only if the equivalent <strong>train journey would take more than eight hours<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For administrative reasons, it would be ideal for DISSECT if the participants could advance the costs of their flights (or substantial train journey) and <strong>DISSECT refunds the costs <\/strong><strong><em>after<\/em><\/strong><strong> the meeting has taken place<\/strong>. This is subject to the following strict conditions:\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must have <strong>atten<\/strong><strong>ded<\/strong> the meeting (signing up for private travel insurance is therefore recommended in case you were unable to travel).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DISSECT had <strong>confirmed<\/strong> prior to your booking that it has enough funds to cover your tickets; \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Receipts and<\/strong> <strong>boarding passes<\/strong> are submitted to DISSECT promptly (we shall communicate the deadline in due time).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alternative option: If you are unable or unwilling to advance the costs, DISSECT can arrange for your flights, In this case please email <a href=\"mailto:dissect.erc@ugent.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dissect.erc@ugent.be<\/a> with the following information: name as it appears on your passport, nationality, date of birth, airport of departure, favoured dates of travel, and a copy of your passport.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What other costs is DISSECT covering? <\/strong>Two nights in single-room accommodation (not all en-suite: some accommodation is in small flats of two or three bedrooms with just one bathroom) at Mas Boronat and all meals and coffee breaks (vegetarian) during the period of the meeting. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DISSECT is not proposing to cover other costs (such as local transfers and visa fees). However, if this restriction impedes your participation, please inform us so we can see what we are able to do.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transport between the airport and Mas Boronat<\/strong>: While DISSECT is not able to reimburse participants\u2019 individual taxi or Uber fares, we will organise one or two minibuses on the 24<sup>th<\/sup> and on the 26<sup>th<\/sup>. These will transport participants from the airport to Mas Boronat on Wednesday and return them on Friday. The minibuses will operate at fixed times and may therefore involve significant waiting times for some participants who choose to use this service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>Additional nights at Mas Boronat<\/strong>: if of interest, please contact the resort directly at <a href=\"mailto:info@masboronat.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">info@masboronat.com<\/a> and mention that you are part of the DISSECT meeting.
