PhD or post-doctoral research position on evidence in the ECtHR and legal consciousness

A position complementing the DISSECT research project is currently being advertised as part of the iBOF project “Future-proofing human rights. Developing thicker forms of accountability”, which is led by Prof Tine Destrooper, involves a consortium drawn from four Flemish universities (Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp, Hasselt), and is currently seeking to fill seven research positions related to, amongst other issues, process-based review, ESC rights during pandemics, new duty-bearers and surveillance studies.

One of the advertised positions is very close to the DISSECT project, as it will investigate the disappearance from legal consciousness of human rights violations, due to lack or neglect of evidence, by reference to a body of case law emanating from the European Court of Human Rights and related, for example, to racial discrimination (see WP3.2. in the iBOF project description).

The position will be filled at either doctoral or post-doctorate level, as appropriate in view of the CV and experience of the selected candidate.

The post-holder will work under the direction of prof. dr. Marie Bénédicte Dembour, with the collaboration of prof. dr. Stijn Smet.

The deadline for applying to this particular position is April 11, 2021 at 23:59 CET. (Please note the deadline for applying to the other six positions is different).
