DISSECT’s refunding of participants’ journey to Barcelona

  • DISSECT is subject to rather strict financial rules: only economy-class flights can be refunded and only if the equivalent train journey would take more than eight hours.
  • For administrative reasons, it would be ideal for DISSECT if you could advance the costs of your flight (or substantial train journey) and we refund the costs after the meeting has taken place. This is subject to the following strict conditions:
  • You must have attended the meeting (signing up for private travel insurance is therefore recommended in case you were unable to travel).
  • DISSECT had confirmed prior to your booking that it had enough funds to cover your tickets;
  • Your boarding passes have been submitted to us promptly (we shall communicate the deadline in due time).
  • Alternative option: If you are unable or unwilling to advance the costs, DISSECT can arrange for your flights, In this case please email dissect.erc@ugent.be with the following information: name as it appears on your passport, nationality, date of birth, airport of departure, favoured dates of travel, and a copy of your passport.

Costs directly covered by DISSECT: two nights in single-room accommodation (not all en-suite: some accommodation is in small flats of two or three bedrooms with just one bathroom) at Mas Boronat; all meals and coffee breaks (vegetarian) during the period of the meeting.

Other costs: We are not proposing to cover other costs (such as local transfers and visa fees). However, if this restriction impedes your participation, please inform us so we can see what we are able to do.

Additional nights at Mas Boronat: if of interest to you, please contact the resort directly at info@masboronat.com and mention that you are part of the DISSECT meeting. For your information, Mas Boronat will charge €155 per additional night (breakfast included).

Preparation: Participants are expected to come to the meeting having read three chapters of the book Questions of Evidence in the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies’ Individual Communications Procedure, as follows: Chapter 1 (Introduction), Chapter 11 (recommendations), and one additional chapter (as assigned by the organisers to each participant). The book will be published by Cambridge University Press in early May 2026 (Open Access).

This conference is an output of DISSECT: Evidence in International Human Rights Adjudication, a Horizon 2020 research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC-AdG-2018-834044) and led by Prof. Marie-Bénédicte Dembour. For more information see https://dissect.ugent.be/.
